Caring for the environment plays an important role in our work here at Dunlossit. We operate a number of conservation schemes as well as contributing to sustainable and renewable energy sources.
Our current conservation schemes include the extensive planting of native trees within our forestry management and the deployment of Highland cattle on the hill to help further improve vegetation. An annual programme of bracken control through both helicopter and ground-based spraying is also carried out.
Two biomass woodchip boiler systems have been installed with a third district heating system due to be commissioned in October 2017.
We have one 20 kilowatt hydro scheme currently operational with construction of a second 15 kilowatt project starting at the end of August 2017.
